In June of 1999, I reserved a mini van from Payless Car Rental via Preview Travel.It was reserved for August 12, 1999 - August 19,1999. I was to pick up the van at Payless' Newark airport location. At the time I made the reservations I gave my credit card number and was given two confirmation numbers one from Payless and one from Preview travel.I thought my reservations were complete. On the day I was to pick up my van for my trip, I called Payless to find out exactly where at the airport they were located, and I was told that I could not rent from them because I was not flying into the airport.I then had to find another van for almost double the cost. I complained to both companies and Payless said I should have called to confirm my reservations and at that time I would have found out that I could not rent from them. I felt as a consumer I did not need to reconfirm my reservations because I already had 2 confirmation numbers and had given my credit card number. Preview Travel Had stated that it was in theiclaimer. I made 2 complaints to the Better Business Bureau about both companies. Payless continued to say they were not in the wrong.Preview Travel did say that their disclaimer was not accurate and that they were going to reword their disclaimer to better clarify it. They also said in a letter address to The San Francisco Better Business Bureau that they were reinbursing me $100.00 for all my inconvenience. That letter was dated Septembedr 12, 1999 and I have not yet received such a check. I have written 3 times to Preview Travel. Called the assistant vice president for customer service 3 times, with never a return call and have written to the President of Preview Travel. All with no response. Please help me. I think a company as big as Preview Travel should want the consumer to be satisfied.
