ChoicePoint Acquires Customer Development Corporation
Company adds database marketing organization to suite of information service offerings

ALPHARETTA, Ga., November 2, 1998 - ChoicePoint Inc. (NYSE:CPS) announced today the acquisition of Customer Development Corporation (CDC) and its affiliated companies for $86 million in cash, subject to regulatory approval.

CDC is a full-service, fully integrated database marketing company providing in one location all the disciplines required to take a database marketing program from concept to final execution. Based in Peoria, Illinois, the company designs and implements complex, customized database marketing programs primarily for clients in the insurance, consumer finance, publishing and banking industries.

"Assessing risk means more than looking for hazards to avoid. It means uncovering opportunities that with the right information can be capitalized upon," commented Derek Smith, president and CEO of ChoicePoint. "This acquisition furthers our ability to provide customers in-depth knowledge of consumer risk and return profiles, allowing them to establish strategies that ultimately drive profitable growth."

CDC, which will operate as a subsidiary of ChoicePoint, was founded in 1981 by Thomas Lund, had 1997 annual gross operating revenue of $38.6 million and employs more than 400 employees in its corporate headquarters and three sales locations around the United States. Jim Lane, currently President of CDC, and Tim Prunk, currently Chief Operating Officer, along with other members of the CDC management team, will remain with the company post-acquisition.

"As we continue to focus on strengthening our core competencies, CDC brings expertise in the important areas of data warehousing, database marketing and data analysis, which adds value across ChoicePoint business lines," adds Smith. "In addition, the growing demand for targeted marketing information services in response to changing buying patterns brings new opportunity for revenue growth."

"We are very excited to be joining the ChoicePoint family," commented Jim Lane. "ChoicePoint’s market leadership in risk assessment information services and their ability to bring valuable data to our service offerings made them the best business partner for CDC. Additionally, our respective industry bases offer both companies an opportunity to broaden our existing client relationships and expand into new markets."

CDC affiliated companies, also acquired by ChoicePoint in the transaction, are Customer Database Technologies, Inc. (CDT), which develops software packages utilized for database management applications; National Credit Audit Corporation (NCAC), which provides subscriber collection services under the name Magazine Collection Bureau (MCB) and fast turn subscriber renewal services under the name United Wire Service; Optimum Graphics Printing, Inc. (OGPI), which provides print and paper brokerage services; Financial Database Services Company (FDSC), which provides database services for Fair Credit Reporting Act governed information; and CDC Realty LLC, which owns real estate occupied by the other companies.
