Audi Rips Off And Ignores Consumer

J. B.- November 29, 1999

My husband purchased a used Audi Quattro A6 (1996) for me for christmas last year. (he purchased it about a week before christmas). When I received the car, I read through all the warranties, manuals, etc. and discovered that their was a transferrable warranty (two years) on all scheduled maintenance. In their warranty book it states that the warranty begins on the day the car is delivered to the original owner. The warranty book had a stamp in it from the orginal dealer, and was signed. Their was also the original paperwork, signed by the salesman and the buyers of the vehicle on the date of delivery...a checklist to release the vehicle.

Well, I took the car into the dealer to get the 35,000 mile scheduled maintenance that would be covered by the warranty. The dealer called me to inform me that Audi would not recognize the date of delivery as the correct date. They insisted that even though it does state that in their warranty book...they don't have to abide by that! They would only abide by the orignial purchase date which was December 31st, 1995. (I tried to get my car taken care of the first week in January...the dealer wouldn't take my car in the week of christmas day, 1998)

I know this is really way after the fact. But it still really ticks me off. Especially, since I called Audi of America numberous times and their customer service department was rude, they didn't get back to me, and very disinterested in my complaint.

I even sent a letter to the president, which of course was sent back to customer service...which continued to be rude and not help me. Of course, I finally gave up...just like they would like me too.

I think that Audi should of stood by what they had printed in their warranty book. It is misleading and untrue! I did attempt to contact Audi directly - by phone (repeatedly) and by registered mail to the president of Audi of America. It was Audi who blew me off - not the dealership.
