Art Institutes International Inc. - A Bad Deal
name: S. G.
city: 77055

My friend is one of 325 plaintiffs in a lawsuit entitled Sandra Aguirre, et al versus Educational Management Corporation, Inc., Art Institutes International Inc. and Art Institute of Houston, Inc., Defendants, in the 113th District Court of Harris County, Texas, Cause No 1999-33154, for allegedly engaging in fraud and Deceptive Trade Practices and various other torts. A degree from the Art Institute is worthless and is indeed a liability in the job market. They keep implying that they have connections for their students in the broadcast/video industry. Their instructors are washed up has been's from the broadcast/video industry who have NO connections.
My friend was unemployed for 5 years following graduation from AIH with a video degree and a straight A average in 1994, and he has two degrees in Physics (BS and MS)and knows his stuff about electronics and multimedia.
The attorneys for the plaintiffs are Fleming & Associates, LLP, 713-621-7944 and David B. Black 713-529-5288. There may be other lawsuits against other branches of the company in other cities. One of the plaintiffs is a former employee who was tired of their sales pitch. Private proprietary schools like AIH tend to be a gigantic ripoff anyway.
I knew people who went to a court reporting school back in the 70s, McMahon College, where the owner took off to South America with half a million dollars in student loan money and the students had to file a class action against the government to get their money back.
