Boycott Apple Computer Quicktime 4.0 Active Installation!

Boycott Apple Computer Quicktime™ 4.0!

Why do companies insist that you install their software via "active installation" as opposed to downloading the installation software? Microsoft started this, and then finally offered the option to download, rather than install their Internet Explorer web browser.

Now it is Apple Computer Corporation who demands an active installation of their "Quicktime™ 4.0 software. This beast is over 10 MB WITHOUT all of its options! What happens when your ISP trashes your connection half way through this installation? What happens when you need to reload the software after work on your computer (nah, computers never break, do they?) How about those of us who have several computers - a desktop, a laptop, one for the kids?

I finally tracked down an EMAIL and a snail mail address for the folks at Apple who produce this crap, and sent off a request to know why they do not permit downloading this software. I have yet to receive a reply!

I am boycotting this software! In addition, I am writing to any website that requires this software and advising them that I could not see their content because Apple will not let me download their software, and I refuse to do an active installation of any software. We as ConsumersRevenge.Com are asking everyone do the same! Even if you have the software installed already, send off an EMAIL whenever a website pushes Quicktime content to you. Advise them that you were unable to see their content because you refuse to do an active installation of ANY software.

This may seem like a trivial problem - but it really amounts to a serious lack of consideration on the part of Apple Computer. In addition, ANY plugin that eats as much space as this piece of crap should be shunned! Even the latest Microsoft Media Player™ installation software is smaller than Quicktime! And Bill lets you download this one!
