American Home Shield Doesn't Listen Well!

I rec'd an American Home Shield warrantly when I bought my home 3 years ago in 1999. Last year (2001) my air conditioning was not working. AHS sent a local company to check it. The company said the outside condensor unit was damaged due to dog urine & AHS would not repair/replace. I have talked to my realtor & an electrician & they have never heard of this. I know of another AHS warranty holder & the same thing happened to him. He had his realtor pursue & got $800 from AHS for repairs. AHS will not reconsider my situation, get a second opinion or get lab reports on samples taken from my A/C

American Home Shield are the experts in how to provide absolutely zero customer service. Their "customer representatives" -- ironic since that's the last thing they are -- are not trained in helping their customers in any way. They are extremely rude, unhelpful, and confrontational. For example, you will hit a wall if you ever try to change the company who was sent out to service you. They pick the cheapest and crappiest companies to do the work. OR, if they claim that something is not covered because it was "installed incorrectly" -- even if it came that way with a new house that you bought -- you're stuck. AHS is not worth a penny. The only reason they can stay in business is cause they have a self-serving relationship with real estate agents that require them to buy warranties for every house that they sell. AVOID them at all costs. We're canceling our policy.

American Home Shield sent a repair man to fix my AC unit at my home. The repair person worked for two hours and then came in to use my phone. He called AHS and told them what he thought was wrong. Then AHS told me that I was going to have to pay 114.00 dollars for the repairs. I told them that if it was not going to be covered then I would do the work myself. They then told me that the work had already been done and that the bill was 114.00. I asked if this was the normal way they did business, by not telling the custmer that the item was not going to be covered and that the cost was going to be higer than the normal 35.00 service fee. I have tried to talk to AHS several times, but canot get anyone to talk to me, or I just get a run around to blow me off.
