Dodge - Big Problems Just Out Of Warranty!

name: D. L.

city: 46517

problem: 01/23/2000

At 26,000 miles, three months past warranty expiration, I took my '97 Dodge Dakota in to see what was causing a rattle in the engine and vibration in the front-end and why the front tires where wearing on the outside. I was told I needed to have the timing chain replaced to stop the rattle and replace the drive shaft and front tires to stop the vibration. No answer as to why the tires are wearing on the outside. The timing chain and the dDrive shaft both had a TSB issued on them to replace if there was a problem. The two peice drive shaft is to be replaced with a one peice. They would not admit to a problem with the two peice and said it would be safe to drive. I managed to finally talk the Crysler Rep. into covering 75% of the timing chain, but got nothing on the drive shaft.
